Nice writing on Foreman, but real Jewish sportswriters didn’t denigrate their heritage (even if abandoned) by writing shlock about cooking shrimp.

(next time lie and say it’s beef, or tofu).

W-a-a-a-y back in the 1910′s and early ’20′s my grandfather (according to my father) was the tri-state Golden Gloves flyweight champ. He was also a traveling salesman with a route through the South. According to the stories, in order to get retailers to take a look at his wares he’d ask for a fight with the towns best boxer. Then “everyone in town” would come to watch the Jew-boy get pummeled. Well, I never heard about the losses – but he survived well into his 60′s, so I guess he won more than he lost.

BTW, his athletic prowess must have been a fluke of genetics…

If Foreman wins it will be a good story, but boring fight. 12 rounds of jab jab move. Cotto will take the body till Foreman can’t move.

Have you been watching the super 6 on Showtime? That’s how to get the novice back into boxing.

I kind of think Foreman will win. Cotto just hasn’t looked impressive since the Margarito fight (and I think with good reason, since Margarito probably was fighting with illegal wraps on his hands).

I watched UFC with my brother in its infancy stage. It was OK, but didn’t do too much for me.

Well put. It’s tough being a boxing fan in Cincinnati, but you’re right. When someone asks me the same question I always say boxing. People always will tell me they like MMA better, and that’s fine but their different sports, and I happen to prefer boxing. I think Cotto wins it by TKO by 9. Foreman besides being an interesting story is not the most exciting fighter.

Good to see a local guy write about boxing.

I think we did a damn fine job of raising you and your brother. Trying to shield your offspring from the realities and vulgarities of the real world is just a waste of time and energy. Plus, we really wanted to see some of those “R” rated movies and it was cheaper to bring you along than to get a baby sitter.
